Everything You Don’t Need to Know About TVs is a project consisting of a
72 page book, a website, and a motion graphic. It aims to show interesting facts
about screens, TVs, and everything in between.
I was inspired by illustrations found in instruction manuals and wanted to put a twist on that specific art style to make it more engaging. This ties directly back to the content of the book, as I find the technology behind TVs and screens especially interesting and wanted to make something that conveys that to people who might be less interested initially.
While the project was mainly focused on design, I also wanted the book to be cohesive and genuinely enjoyable to read, so instead of simply gathering different articles and information, I used those resources to write the body copy myself. This also allowed me to have more control over the typesetting.
The project started with the word “Illusion”. The goal was to start
with this term and branch off of it with different words and ideas
until I settled on an interesting topic.
The website was created as an alternative and more interactive
way of engaging with the content and information found in the book
while also acting as a place to order the book itself.
The motion graphic was meant to be a very brief overview
with the goal of showcasing the primary topics of the project in
a short amount of time.
